New Car Safety Ratings Give Businesses More Choice

Safety Ratings increase vehicle choice

Whilst reliability and appearance of business vehicles are two important considerations for SMEs, they also need to ensure that the vehicles are safe and efficient to ensure the continuation of critical business functions.

New safety ratings brought in on 12 May by The Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) mean that business owners will have more variety when it comes to commercial van and people-moving models. "For commercial buyers - many of whom are now required by their employers to have a vehicle with a 5 star ANCAP safety rating - these ratings open the door to a number of new vehicle choices," explained ANCAP Chief Executive Officer, Mr James Goodwin.

The new ratings included vehicles from both Mercedes-Benz and Ford. Notably, Ford joined the 5 star van list for the first time with both the Ford Transit and the Ford Tourneo. Goodwin noted that the Transit tends to be a particularly popular pick for commercial operators of all sizes and the new rating merely affirms that demand, as the model now offers the highest level of safety by ANCAP.

Mercedes-Benz has two vehicles that secured the 5-star rating: the V-Class and Valente. Both models secured impressive numbers throughout each subset of the test - securing 93 per cent adult occupant protection and 85 percent on child occupant protection.

Financing your next business vehicle

Small businesses wanting to take advantage of the wider vehicle choice now available, however, may find that arranging vehicle finance through their bank may not be a viable option. In these situations, non-bank financiers may be able to assist.

Whether leasing the vehicle or acquiring it on a secured loan to potentially take advantage of the $20,000 Accelerated Depreciation measure, arranging funding does not need to be time-consuming and difficult.

With an easy application process, no financials required for vehicles up to $150K*, fast approvals, electronic document signing and same-day settlements, non-bank lenders such as Classic Funding Group may be an ideal option for businesses seeking out popular (but pricey) models like the Mercedes V-Class or the Ford Transit.
